When you arent able to get a good nights sleep, it can be hard to do anything during the day. You are tired, weak and confused, so how can you work or go to school? You cant, which is why these tips are being provided to you, so keep reading.

Avoid sleeping on your side. To get a good nights sleep, rest on your back instead. If you simply cant fall asleep that way, try going to bed on your right side. The left side should be avoided as it causes your liver and lungs to push up on your heart.

Exercise

Regular exercise can promote heathy sleeping habits and decrease the chances of insomnia. Exercising every day for at least 30 minutes will help you sleep longer and better. Avoid exercising within a 3 hour period before bedtime. Exercising too close to your bedtime can stimulate your body and keep you from falling asleep.

Try deep rhythmic breathing to snap out of a bout with insomnia. Lay in bed with your eyes closed and simply breathe with deliberation. This exercise will relax you and help take the focus off of the price you will pay tomorrow for not getting enough sleep tonight. Try counting the breaths too, to get sleepy faster.

Use a sleep diary for determining issues with sleep. Keep track of what you eat, do and the mood that you are in. Then compare it with the sleep you are getting. When you understand how sleep works, you can begin to get enough of it.

If you experience insomnia, relegate your workouts to earlier in the day. Exercising excites your body and if you do not sleep well, you should not exercise the few hours before you plan to go to sleep. Maintaining a sense of calm prior to retiring can facilitate great sleep.

Nutrition

Drink copious amounts of vitamin D during the day to help with your sleep. This vitamin will help your muscles relax and strengthen your bones during the night. This will also reduce the tension that is caused by lack of nutrition, which will make you feel more comfortable as the night wears on.
